Softbank to enter online
gambling market

In Japan,
the All Headline News is
reporting that Internet group Softbank Corp. is
heading in the direction of becoming Japan's
premiere Internet group to enter the online gambling
Industry. In order to diversify its business,
Softbank Corp. is making plans with a popular racing
sector to enter into a new era.
Softbank, which operates the
Yahoo broadband service in Japan, is preparing to
set up an Internet portal to provide information and
offerings on the races, take wagers from bettore and
even broadcast many races. This is all part of a
deal to Internet group is making with the Iwate
Prefecture Horse Racing Association.
As it reportedly stands, In April of next year
(2006),
Softbank Corp. will start taking
bets through the Internet on races at 2 separate
courses in Iwate territory. The Iwate area is
located about 250 miles north of the Tokyo area.
Iwate is popular for racing punters looking for
action. After April 2006, it will be even easier for
those who enjoy online gambling sports wagering to
get in on the action.
