After touring Mississippi's
hurricane-devastated coastline, Pinnacle Entertainment's
top executive said he is confident that the company's
Casino Magic riverboat can be rebuilt and within the
next couple of years, too.
Meanwhile, to help in the
reconstruction of the casino, Pinnacle is enlisting its
current employees to help. They will be trained in
various areas of construction.
To rebuild Casino Magic, Pinnacle
will use its resources from the construction of its
resort in Lake Charles, La. - they will use the same
contractors and so on. The general contractor will give
preference to hiring current Pinnacle casino employees.
The company's other casino in the
region, Boomtown New Orleans, recieved little or no
damage.
Biloxi casino
are said to come from Florida, where very little damage
even happened.
The company has pledged to
continue paying workers while its two casinos are
closed.
Not every company has done so.
In an livid letter given to
reporters and signed by "all surviving employees of the
Beau Rivage," casino workers at MGM Mirage's
Mississippi resort slammed the casino operator for not
following the lead taken by its peers to pay wages to
workers devastated by
the hurricane.
