October 5In Buffalo, New York, it
look as if the religious right is at it again.
Fortunately, this time they are probably too late. A
partnership of Western New York religious prominent
representatives,
including the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese there,
paraphrased its steadfast opposition to a proposed new
casino in Buffalo. The group feels that they still
have enough time to block the casino from being
approved.
Yesterday, about 10 or 12
members of the Network
Religious Communities, Buffalo's biggest interfaith
group, retaliated against the casino proposal during
a press conference in the network offices located on
Delaware Avenue.
The Bishop, who first voiced
his stern opposition to the permission of a
casino 3 months ago, started the opposition to
the new casino approval by writing a letter to
Buffalo's mayor.
In the posting he
said that there
were already enough cities in New York that already
had casinos. His concern that the area's
lower-income community
will become preoccupied with gambling in a new
approved casino in the immediate area of Buffalo.
Many area administrators feel
that the casino will most likely be approved. We
online gambling players will be watch to see what happens.
