Not only do people living in the
Czech Republic love games of chance, they like
convenient games of chance. When online gambling was
legal in the country, it was hugely popular. The mere
ease of gambling online from a home or other easily
accessed places was a big hit.
Because the government there felt it was too hard to
keep regulated tabs on revenue from the burgeoning
industry, it was outlawed. Since then, gamblers have
moved on to phone gambling and TV shows that are aired
late in the evening providing games of chance where real
money can be won.
Betting over the phone is quite simple, therefore
highly popular in the Czech Republic. Last year alone,
Czechs spent a reported 84.6 billion crowns (local
money) on legal gambling. The sheer love of winning and
winning fast has become insanely popular. With such a
huge influx of revenue, it will be interesting to see
which direction this country heads with gambling in the
future.
